Cascais, a coastal resort town just west of Lisbon and home to several of Portugal’s finest golf facilities, has today ushered in a new era for golf travel with the launch of its Golf Passport– a first-of-its-kind digital solution to make multi-round tee-time bookings faster and cheaper.
All seven golf venues in Cascais are owned and managed independently of one another, but with Golf Passport 3-5 rounds can be booked in under a minute, with the added benefit guaranteeing the lowest fixed prices available.
Accessible now from the Visit Cascais website, Golf Passport is unique in that the technology is applicable to any set of golf courses anywhere in the world.
Jo Maes, chief commercial officer of Zest.golf, which developed the platform on behalf of Cascais, said: “This is a world first for the golf travel industry and has been achieved through the close collaboration between us as a technology provider, the Visit Cascais tourist board and each of the golf clubs, to deliver a fully integrated and highly-functional booking solution for tour operators and consumers.”
“We anticipate Golf Passport will significantly drive visitation to the region and carve a path for further innovation and collaboration between destinations, travel partners and golf venues.”
Undiscovered by many, the Cascais golf portfolio represents a collection of unique and varied golf courses, including Portugal’s top-ranked layout, Oitavos Dunes, as well as other championship venues such as Penha Longa and Estoril, with each golf course being perfectly framed by the panoramic Atlantic Ocean and Sintra Mountains.
Situated close to Europe’s most westerly point just 32km from the Portuguese capital, Cascais is renowned for implementing smart technology to improve the lives of residents and visitors to the city. The new Golf Passport is the city’s latest innovation; previous examples include: City Points, intelligent waste management, Cascais 360, and the implementation of 5G coverage for the city.
Bernardo Corrêa de Barros, President at Visit Cascais, the region’s tourism board, said: “Cascais is already a well-connected destination to over 100 major cities throughout the world but with the launch of this platform, we can now connect our region’s courses together for the first time to provide golf and travel specialists with an easy-to-use booking system.
“We want to show the world that our city is the greatest place to spend a day or a lifetime so it is our hope that through the Golf Passport by Cascais, more golfers can visit the region on a more regular basis and experience our unique courses, exceptional gastronomy and calm way of life.”
In making Cascais Digital Golf Passport open and readily available for tour operators and travel partners to use from today, there has never been a more comprehensive solution available to book golf trips to one of Portugal’s most established and emblematic golf destinations.
