The Keeling’s are at it again over in Spain on the Toro Tour and after Sean came second last week, his brother Patrick is looking to go one better in San Roque.
The Roganstown starlet will take a ten shot lead into the final round of both the all class and the amateur class after rounds of 71 and 70 saw him climb to three-under-par.
Teeing off with just a two shot lead after the opening day, it didn’t look like Keeling would stretch ten shots clear after bogeys on six and eight took him to the turn in 38 shots. However, three successive birdies to open his back nine and a fourth gain on the par-3 17th completed a superb inward half of just 32 to leave the rest of the field in his wake.
The Toro Tour has been good for the Irish amateurs with Walker Cup hopeful Robert Brazill sharing second with compatriot James Temple as they look to capitalise on any Keeling hiccups on Wednesday.
The pair are seven-over-par after second rounds of 73 and 76. Naas native Brazill bounced back from an opening 78 while Portmarnock’s Temple shot 75 on day one.
Gweedore’s Padraig O’Dochartaigh is in a share of fifteenth place on fourteen-over-par.
