Talor Gooch seemingly took a swipe at Shane Lowry following his victory in the team event at the latest LIV Golf tournament in Chicago.

After Lowry claimed his BMW PGA Championship win at Wentworth was “one for the good guys”, Gooch, who finished fourth on debut behind Lowry in Surrey, posted a video with the caption “Another one for the good guys” after the Dustin Johnson captained Four Aces won their fourth team title in a row.

For what it’s worth, Gooch finished three-over par and tied-35th, a full 16 shots behind the winner, Cameron Smith as part of his contribution to a team completed by Patrick Reed and Pat Perez.

One suspects Lowry won’t lose too much sleep over Gooch’s comments. Gooch proved no match for the 2019 Open winner at Wentworth while the American had never posted a top-10 finish in a major prior to joining LIV.

Now ranked 36th in the world, Gooch will hope OWGR points are soon granted to LIV players in order to hang onto his place inside the world’s top-50 given he holds no exemptions into the majors for 2023.

A verdict isn’t expected on that issue until February, meaning his upcoming date at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at month’s end might be the last for some time that he squares off against Lowry in real competition. Something tells us that Ireland’s links specialist might just come out on top in that tussle too.
