Having had mixed results in recent times Stephanie Meadow capitalised on some great play to post a -2 score at the LPGA Meijer Classic in Grand Rapids.

Meadow’s round included four birdies to go along with two bogeys to post the score of 69 and she currently sits in T38 position heading into the second day.

The low round of the day came from Brooke Henderson who shot 63 but it was Tour Rookie Jennifer Ha who grabbed the headlines as she fired 29 on the front nine and cared a -7 total to finish in a five way tie for second place alongside Lexi Thompson and Stacy Lewis. Ha was understandably nervous to be hitting the high notes and she said;

“After about No. 15 I got a little nervous, not going to lie. It’s my first year on Tour and I haven’t really been in that situation before. But, it gives me the extra boost that I need. It’s a great confidence boost for me. I haven’t been playing that great for the past couple of events, so this is the kick that I needed.”

Having lost her World #1 spot, Lydia Ko made a welcome return to action after three weeks out and returned an opening 65 to sit on -6 and well within touching distance.
