Titleist begins seeding of prototype 818 hybrids with a number of Brand Ambassadors including Paul Dunne at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open this week.
Prototype 818 hybrids make their debut at the European Tour Rolex Series event following the introduction of prototype 718 irons at the HNA Open de France last month and Dunne has put both the irons and hybrids into play in Scotland this week as he looks to claim one of the three remaining Open spots up for grabs.
The tour validation process allows Titleist to ensure every club is delivering on the brand promise of innovation, performance and quality excellence.
16 sets of new prototype Titleist 718 irons were put into play at last week’s The Greenbrier Classic on the PGA Tour, where Titleist was also the top choice in irons with 47 sets (30%) and hybrids with 31 sets (35%).
On the European Tour Gavin Moynihan introduced a full set of 718 irons into his bag at Portstewart last week. It was Moynihan’s first event with the new 718 irons and his final round 64 jumped the Titleist brand ambassador up 34 spots to finish as leading Irish player claiming him his biggest career cheque of €84,000.
“That round was big for me,” Moynihan said. “I had not really had like a low round since I turned pro. I had a few 67s and 66s, so to shoot 8-under around this course — and it wasn’t easy on Sunday — it’s huge.”
I had huge help from the lads at Titleist last week. The new 718 irons and my wedges were class all week. I am glad I made the change over to the 718s, it really paid off.
