The Irish Boys team endured a difficult day two at the Home Internationals at St. Annes as they faced defending champions England who were dominant on day one.
The English team emerged victorious 10-5 and now have both hands firmly on the Boys Home Internationals title as Wales claimed a prize scalp with an 8½- 6½ win over Scotland in the other match.
Following their opening 11-4 win over Wales, England won four and halved one of the morning foursomes against Ireland and then edged the afternoon singles 5½-4½.
Reece Black got the first point on the board for Ireland in the singles with a 3&2 win over Alex Fitzpatrick, soon followed by Mark Power who beat Charlie Strickland 3&1, cutting the deficit to just two points early in the afternoon.
Needing just three and a half points from the ten singles to win the match, Toby Briggs got the first one on the board for England with a 2&1 victory over Jack Hearn, then Ben Jones beat Eoin Murphy 4&3 in game number seven.
Two more wins quickly followed to put them over the winning line, Robin Williams beating Robert Moran by one hole and Joe Pagdin beating Jack Doherty 3&2 in match number eight, Williams and Pagdin both making it four wins from their four games so far.
Ireland now face Wales with just half a point on the board while Scotland, who also only have half a point, will face England with the odds stacked in favour of an English victory in the Championship.
