On a beautiful sunny morning in County Kilkenny, Ryder Cup-winning captain Paul McGinley officially hit the 1st ball at his new Paul McGinley Golf Academy at Mount Juliet Estate as the facility opened it’s doors.

The Academy at Mount Juliet Estate has been redesigned and re-configured by McGinley and his team and incorporates some fantastic new features, including a magnificent Augusta-like tree in the centre of the range which McGinley says “gives you something to aim at as there is fairway on both sides so rather than simply hitting balls aimlessly you can now try to hit the fairway to the left or the right and improve your practice regime.”

Sculpted on the 15-acre driving range and allowing replication of all ‘real life’ golf course shots the academy includes full length fairways, providing draw and fade shots, two putting greens and a short game area, and it is using the most advanced teaching software, the Trackman 4e, allowing all aspects of the game to be developed and taught. All instruction is based around Paul’s playing philosophy and the instructors chosen are selected and trained by the McGinley team.

A new swing room is under development where many of the leading brands will be available for custom fit, including Taylormade, Callaway and Vega and this latest initiative at Mount Juiet brings the golf specific investment to over €4.5 million in total.

New Director of Golf, Matt Sandercock, AA PGA Professional and Trackman certified coach, is delighted that the new Academy is ready to open to the public. “The Paul McGinley Academy at Mount Juliet Estate is a magnificent facility that enhances our already excellent golf offering here at Mount Juliet. Our Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course is consistently recognised as one of Ireland’s finest parkland courses and working with Paul, one of Ireland’s most renowned golfers, is a perfect fit. We know he will bring a huge amount to Mount Juliet and we are really pleased to offer these additional amenities to our Club members and all visiting golfers.”

“Mount Juliet Estate has long been a top golfing destination on the world stage of golf,” said McGinley. “I am delighted to be partnering with the owners, Tetrarch Capital, to develop the Paul McGinley Golf Academy. With the magnificent Jack Nicklaus Signature Course on the Estate, my newly designed range, sculpted to provide every shot in the golf bag, gives a fantastic opportunity for golfers to develop their skills at the Academy or complete quality practice before going out to play.”

Mount Juliet Estate has recently completed the development of a state-of-the-art Clubhouse and the Signature Jack Nicklaus Golf Course is overlooked by the newly developed Hunter’s Yard. Set around an attractive courtyard just five minutes’ walk from the Manor House. Hunter’s Yard is home to 93 elegant new bedrooms, conference and banquet facilities for up to 210 guests, and the latest addition to dining at the Estate, The Hound, a warm, inviting place to eat with a cosy bar, a bright airy conservatory and fabulous views of the golf course.

With superb Stay, Learn & Play packages making the most of both the Academy and the Estate’s luxurious accommodation options, individuals, couples and groups can soon look forward to learning to play the McGinley way at Mount Juliet Estate.
