When I say that the PGA Tour has ‘serious flaws’ and has a lot of changing to do, it does not mean I am in the LIV camp.
One cannot play on a hostile Tour. It’s understandable that there will have to be suspensions. Some of the suspensions will, no doubt, end careers but I hope not all careers. After a period of probation has been served and those involved are instructed to go all the way back to mini-tours and begin all over again if somebody changes his mind.
In the short term, all professional golf will suffer. It will lose some of its cache and respect. I have particular fears for the continuing health of the Ryder Cup if LIV continues to expand.
By the time it comes to Adare in 2027 who knows what the state of world golf affairs may be? Right now it would not effect the make-up of the rival teams that much to be overly worried about it.
Based on the current rankings, you could have these USA-EU teams facing off against each other. It isn’t as lop-sided as I might have thought.
USA – Scheffler, Burns, Thomas, Cantlay, Spieth, Morikawa, Homa, Zalatoris, Horschel, Schauffele, Finau, Hoge.
Europe – Fitzpatrick, Hovland, McIlroy, Pieters, Rahm, Lowry, Hatton, Casey, Power, Fleetwood, Rose, Straka.
