It was another good day for Knock’s Colin Fairweather at Q School in Frilford Heath despite only managing a level par round of 72. Colin Fairweather – Image by Golffile.ie Fairweather moved up two places into a tie for 4th on four under par as the field struggled in tough conditions on day three. Three birdies matched with two bad holes, one a disappointing double bogey on 16, leaves the Northern Irishman in great shape heading into the final day of Stage One qualifying. There’s plenty of other Irish in contention too with Conor O’ Rourke and Dermot McElroy sharing a tie for 9th on two under par. O’ Rourke managed a level par round of 72 on day three while McElroy went one better with a 71, both now sitting in a commanding position ahead of tomorrow’s crucial round. The most significant move of the day from an Irish perspective was that of Niall Kearney who blasted himself up 25 places and into a tie for 16th after a wonderful three under par 69. Five birdies mixed with just the two drop shots have completely changed the complexion of Kearney’s chances, just when he needed them most too. While Chris Selfridge, who snuck inside the cut mark, continued his uphill battle with an admirable round of 70, but remains in a tie for 58th and with it all to do tomorrow at six over par. 20 places and ties will qualify for stage two so keep her lit lads!
