Stuart Grehan and AJ McCabe battened down the hatches best of all to claim the spoils at the latest TaylorMade Winter Series outing at Portmarnock Links.

78 players braved driving wind and rained while a few pins tucked away meant good scores were hard to come by. That said, Tullamore pro Grehan signed for a superb one-under 70 to take the Nett prize.

Out in one-under with back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth before a bogey at the seventh, Grehan came home in even par, trading a birdie at 10 with a bogey on 15 to pip Portmarnock Links 3-handicap Aidan McGrath to the prize.

There was more luck for Portmarnock Links member AJ McCabe in the Gross prize, however. The +3 handicap shot level par with nine pars on the front before trading a bogey with a closing birdie to complete an impressive even par effort.

For those looking to get in on the action, tee times are available next week from 10.30am onwards. Please note that there will be no Winter Series on the 22nd but it will restart on the 1st of March for the five Tuesdays through the month.
