After her LPGA Tour return was hampered by a trip down the stairs, Stephanie Meadow is hoping to shake off the injury ahead of take two in Australia this week.

Stephanie Meadow returns to action this week at the ISPS Handa Australian Women’s Open after a frustrating return to the LPGA Tour last week in Victoria.

The Jordanstown professional’s participation was piled into doubt prior the Handa Vic Open after a tumble down the stairs saw her injure her right ankle.

Strapped up and swinging despite the pain, Meadow’s second round 77 after a promising 70 on day one saw her fall two shots short of the cut mark at 13th Beach Club.

However, despite the obvious disappointed in what proved to be another false dawn in her bid to reintroduce herself to the golfing world, the
Northern Irishwoman is hoping her body will allow her to produce her best stuff on a course she likes the look of in The Grange golf blub venue.

“Last week was obviously disappointing but my ankle is getting better which is positive,” said Meadow.

“It’s still a little hard walking but I’ve been able to practice which is great and I’m excited to get the week started.
“It’s a little chilly and windy here in Adelaide but the golf course is in perfect shape. I’m looking forward to getting out there.”

Meanwhile Leona Maguire can enjoy a week of practice in the sunshine after she fell one day short of seeing a grinding week through to the finish after failing to make the final day cut at the ISPS Handa Vic Open last week.

The Cavan star, now a fully-fledged member of the Ladies European Tour, remains in Australia ahead of two upcoming LET events – the Australian Ladies Classic at Bonville (Feb 21-24) and the ActewAGL Canberra Classic at Royal Canberra GC (Mar 1-3).
