Lee Westwood has taken to social media to tell golfers what they should already know – repair your pitch-marks, and more so than ever in Winter.

With the winters winds blowing in, cooler temperatures mean golf course recovery takes much longer at this time of year. If you want to avoid bobbling balls and inconsistent putting surfaces this winter, a huge step in the right direction would be following the world number 38’s advice and nip issues in the bud before they become problematic.

“As you can see it’s winter, and it’s now more important than ever to repair those pitch marks,” Westwood said from Close house where his approach shot had dug a crater in the green.

“Greens are softer so they are making bigger marks. If you are hitting lots of greens, it won’t take a second, make sure you repair those pitch marks so it’s like we were never here.

“The greens will be a lot better to putt on as well.”

Indeed, preparing pitch-marks goes a long way towards improving the enjoyment factor for everyone. If you talk to golfers, you can be sure they’ll all confirm that they never forget to repair a pitch-mark yet most of us find ourselves repairing multiple indents across several greens in a round…. Something doesn’t add up there!

The pitch-mark repair tool is as important as any club in your bag. It helps out the maintenance team at your club and ultimately improves your golf course. If you don’t own one, buy one.
