It’s with regret that Golf Ireland and County Louth Golf Club have confirmed that the East of Ireland Amateur Open Championship will not take place in 2021.
Significant work had been undertaken to find a viable date, but a combination of the already congested fixture schedule and the club’s current commitments (including international green fee bookings but also the rescheduled Irish Women’s Amateur Open) have left little or no room for manoeuvre.
Golf Ireland and County Louth look forward to the next playing of the East of Ireland Championship on 4-6 June 2022, and Golf Ireland looks forward to staging the Irish Women’s Amateur Open at the club this October (15-17).
Meanwhile, Golf Ireland has confirmed a rescheduled date for the Underage Interprovincial Championships, with the event now taking place on 9-10 October in Mount Wolseley.
The series, which includes matches for Under-18 Boys and Girls as well as Under-16 and Under-14 Boys, was due to take place in July but was postponed due to the COVID-19 restrictions that applied at the time.
On the October date, the event will proceed but with teams playing two matches instead of three. The winners of the two matches played on the first day will play each other for the title on the second day, while the losers will play off for third and fourth place. Where a match is tied, the number of holes up on aggregate will determine the winner.
