Malahide’s Gavin O’Neill continued his fine recent form with a one shot win at the Leinster Boys Amateur Open on Wednesday afternoon.

In recent weeks, O’Neill has been crowned the Irish Boys Champion and the Connacht Under-18 Boys Champion, and now adds the Leinster title to his growing collection.

Starting the final round in the last group, O’Neill was two shots behind overnight leader Cian O’Connor (Roscommon). A birdie and bogey in the first six holes were followed by 12 straight pars, as O’Neill won the title by a solitary stroke.

He finished one clear of Faithlegg’s Alex King and Dun Laoghaire’s Ross Halpin. The duo finished on +3. Overnight leader O’Connor finished in a tie for fifth on +6.

O’Neill also won the Under-17 crown, ahead of King and Galway Bay’s Adam Challoner.
