Liam Grehan, Richard Bridges and Jack Ryan proved inseparable as the R&A PGA Trainee Series stopped off at Dundalk Golf Club on Thursday. The leading trio topped the board with 34 points and shared victory in a welcomed boost after a barren spell of golf for our PGA pros in Ireland.
“Thanks to the PGA Ireland and Dundalk Golf Club for hosting the R&A PGA Assistants Series today,” tweeted K Club pro, Grehan who raced home in 34 strokes with three birdies on the card. “Delighted to win (T1) in my first start as a professional.”
“Thanks to PGA Ireland and Dundalk Golf Club for today’s Assistant’s event,” tweeted Bridges, who posted five birdies in his 34-point total and also dedicated the win to his Dad.
“Course was in great shape, a proper test in the wind. Really happy to get the win (T1st), it’s been a tough few weeks personally so this is for my dad, who could do with some good news at the moment.”
It was Castletroy professional Jack Ryan’s first trip to Dundalk but he clearly liked what he saw to card two birdies in a 34-point haul of his own.
“First competitive round of the year off to a winning start with a tied 1st. Thanks to PGA Ireland and Dundalk Golf Club for putting on a great event in the Trainee Series,” said Ryan.
Next up in the Series is Heritage Golf Club on June 16. Well done to all the winners.
