Kennedy posts best finish for Cardinals in just his third start

Royal Dublin’s Max Kennedy fired himself to a career-best finish to lead the University of Louisville men’s golf team at the Aggie Invitational at the Traditions Golf Club in College Station, Texas. The Cardinals closed the regular season with their fifth top-sixth finish of the spring by closing the day in sixth versus the 17-team field.

Playing in only his third tournament, Freshman Kennedy fared well over the three days, carding a 4-over 220 (70, 72 &78) to tie for 21st overall. Previously, he tied for 39th and 54th in his other appearances at the collegiate level. The Dubliner was 2-under-par after the first round on Friday and shot an even-par 72 on Saturday.

The Cardinals finished in sixth place at 14-over-par, shooting 292-294-292 for a 878 total during the three-day event. Oklahoma came back to take home tournament honours, while Texas A&M was second and Texas was third. The Cardinals were 4-over-par on Friday and Sunday, and shot 6-over-par on Saturday.

Matthias Schmid recorded his best round of the tournament on Sunday, shooting a 2-under-par 70. He closed the weekend in a tie for 24th after carding a 5-over-par 221. Jiri Zuska also tied for 24th after shooting 74 Sunday.

John Murphy and Devin Morley each tied for 39th after shooting a 9-over-par 225.
Next up for The Cardinals is the ACC Championships on April 23-26 at the Capital City Club in Milton, Ga.
