The PGA EuroPro Tour is pleased to clarify that amateurs with a handicap of two or better will be able to compete in the Tour’s Monday Qualifiers after seeking relevant approval from The R&A. The news comes on the day the Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team has been announced to take on the USA in the 48th Walker Cup – a team that will feature two players who competed in the Tour’s Q School for the 2021 season, Matty Lamb and Jake Bolton.

Earlier this month, the Tour announced the historic move to launch Monday Qualifiers, giving a unique opportunity to secure a spot in main tournament fields by finishing in the top 5 of the 18-hole qualifier.

The cost of entry will be £50 for Tour members and £75 for non-members, which will be subtracted from the £295 tournament entry fee if the player qualifies.

Barry Hearn OBE, Chairman of the PGA EuroPro Tour, has pushed for the move: “The news that amateurs will be able to test their mettle on Europe’s finest developmental tour by competing in Monday Qualifiers is fantastic for all involved. We see it is a brilliant opportunity. I have always been keen to eliminate barriers to entry and to offer opportunity to all within a diverse and open environment and this further extends our belief in developing the best up-and-coming golfers on Europe’s best platform for developmental golf.”

“The PGA EuroPro Tour is without doubt Europe’s best platform for the up-and-coming, and it allows many to find out if they are good enough for the main stage.”

The Tour’s aim is that every regular tournament in the season will have a Monday Qualifiers, starting from Donnington Grove, subject to any local COVID-19 restrictions and tournament logistics.

Entries will open soon on BlueGolf. Get in touch with us if you have any questions here.
