Michael McGeady fired a bogey-free, eight under par 64 to lead The Heritage Challenge Pro-Am sponsored by JustGolf.ie.
The 40-year-old finished day one two shots ahead of the in form Colm Moriarty (Glasson Hotel & GC) who claimed the Malahide Pro-Am on Friday with Cian McNamara (Monkstown GC) a further two shots back in third.
Despite the low scores posted by McGeady and Moriarty the Heritage course was playing anything but easy with only 6 players of the field of 50 breaking par.
Reigning Irish PGA champion, Tim Rice (Limerick GC) and his amateur partners currently lead the way in the team event with 95 pts.
The final 18 holes will be played Sunday and the leader, Michael McGeady will tee off from the first at 9.50am.
