Our latest Irish Golfer Event stopped off at the always popular and stunning surrounds of PGA National Slieve Russell where players were treated to the pristine fairways of the Cavan parkland.
With three categories in operation this year once more and over €5,000 in prizes, it was a typically competitive day but a wet morning ensured the course was playing its full yardage and that showed in the scoring.
36 points proved enough for Charlie Smyth to book his place in October’s Grand Final at the K Club. The 8-handicapper pipped Padraig O’Connor into second place by a point and also took home a TaylorMade SIM Driver for the effort.
In an even tighter contest in Category Two, it took a count-back to separate the winner, James Farrell, from runner-up Paddy Donovan after both players returned superb 37 point hauls on the day.
The best scoring of all was reserved for the Ladies Category where 9 handicap Michelle Hackett broke the 40points barrier with a haul of 40 to race to a four point win – we’ll see Michelle and hopefully her new TaylorMade SIM Max driver at the Grand Final in the K Club.
In the Nearest the Pin competition, how Stephen Corley didn’t have a hole-in-one we’ll never know but with his ball stopping a mere inch from the hole, there was no denying him closest honours and the prized Motocaddy S1 Electric Trolley that goes with it.
Michelle Hackett’s day got even better when she collected a TaylorMade stand bag for taking out the ladies Long Drive competition as David Brady claimed the gents honours.
Meanwhile, the Gross went to the ultra consistent Lar Ryan whose two-over par round of 74 saw him bag another Sureshot Laser Rangefinder.
Thanks again to everyone who took part and well done to all of our winners, especially our category winners who we will see at our Grand Final later this year. A member of our events team will get in contact with you early this week to arrange collection or delivery of your prize.
Our next event is at Seapoint Golf Links (September 13th) so if you wish to book, click HERE
