As it turned out, Dylan Keating’s superb five-under par opening round of 66 proved enough to capture the 2020 Ulster Boys Championship after storm Francis swept into Warrenpoint.

An almighty deluge meant play was abandoned before a ball was hit on Tuesday with Seapoint’s Keating left five strokes clear at the head of affairs after his incredible opening display.

Balmoral’s Conor Clarke took second place at even par but it was Keating, who had one hand on the trophy already after his opening effort that featured four birdies and an eagle, who deservedly took the spoils as the weather rolled in up north.

The best U17 player was Adam Challoner (Galway Bay) who shot 72 to win on a countback from 4 other players after an excellent two-under par 320.
