Limerick progressed in the Senior Foursomes beating Roscommon in the first quarter final of the day at this year’s AIG Ladies Cups and Shields at Knightsbrook.

Beaten finalists in 2017 and 2018, Roscommon missed two key players due to work commitments and Limerick took full advantage, winning the tie by two matches.

The AIG Intermediate Cup quarter final couldn’t have been closer as Mullingar beat Corrstown, with three matches finishing on the final two holes. Mullingar meet Monkstown in the semi-final before their AIG Junior Foursomes team also compete on Friday.

New Forest Golf Club became affiliated to the ILGU just six years ago, and reached their first National Final this year. Facing Royal Belfast in the AIG Minor Cup today the excitement was palpable. Deirdre O’Connor, Rita O’Shea and Shirley Donegan secured a semi-final place for New Forest against Castlebar on Thursday.

This year’s AIG Ladies Cups and Shields National Finals return to Knightsbrook Hotel and Golf Resort and pennants will be fought for until the last putt is struck on Saturday.

Thirty teams from across the country this week hope to experience the success and prestige associated with winning a National Pennant and given the competitiveness of day one, earning one is going to be no small feat.
