Clandeboye’s Jonathan Caldwell is tied for the lead ahead of today’s second round of the Eagle Orchid Scottish Masters.

Caldwell went bogey-free starting his day with two birdies before heading into the clubhouse with back-to-back birdies to set the gauntlet down.

The Northern Irishman has been in fine form of late having secured a podium finish last week and he’ll be intent to go a couple of places better when the second round resumes today.

Shortly after, it was Daniel Young who matched him with the Scotsman firing on all cylinders thanks to seven birdies to draw level at the top.

Meanwhile, Brendan McCarroll (West Cliffs Golf Links) can be happy with his day’s work shooting a round of 68 (-3) to be seventh one shot ahead of Andrew Arft (Kirby Muxloe Golf Club), Bradley Moore (Kedleston Park Golf Club), and Niall Kearney (The Royal Dublin Golf Club) who’s just inside the top-10 at minus-two.

Kilkenny’s Luke Donnelly (+1), Limerick’s Tim Rice (+2), Ballymena’s Dermot McElroy (+4), Whitehead’s John Ross Galbraith (+5), Cork’s John Hickey (+8), Headfort’s Joe Dillon (+8), Castlebar’s Declan Loftus (+10) and Shannon’s Daniel Brennan (+10) complete the Irish line-up.
