Lauren Walsh continues to knock on the door of her first Ladies European Tour victory and she has another chance heading into the final round of the Australian Women’s Classic at Coffs Harbour.
Walsh soared to within four shots of the lead with a round of 65 to lie in a share of sixth place on six-under-par.
The Castlewarden native has a habit of going low in final rounds so she should fancy her chances of chasing down home favourite Sarah Kemp at the top of the leaderboard.
It was a flawless effort from Walsh who made the perfect start with an opening birdie two before adding another birdie on the seventh.
The two-time Curtis Cup star made her charge on the back nine, rolling in three successive birdies on the 13th, 14th and 15th to put herself in position to launch a final day assault on the title.
Elm Park’s Anna Foster also showed how comfortable she looks at this level early in her rookie campaign as she put on a strong finish to make the cut at her ease.
Foster opened her round with one straight pars and after double bogeying the par-4 10th, the Dubliner rallied in fine style with birdies on the 11th, 14th and 17th to lie in 24th place on level-par after a round of 69.
Castlerock’s Annabel Wilson missed the cut by the minimum on five-over after a second round of 74.
