Vandals broke into Trump International Golf Links and Hotel in Doonbeg and planted Palestinian flags and damaged two of the greens.

This is the second Trump owned golf resort to be damaged by Palestinian protests since Donald Trump was re-elected as US President after his Trump Turnberry links was also broken into.

It is believed that at least three people were involved in the vandalism, just 24 hours after Taoiseach Micheál Martin met with Trump at the White House in Washington ahead of the St Patrick’s Day celebrations.

Trump last visited the Doonbeg resort in May of 2023 but on Wednesday during their 50-minute meeting, Taoiseach Martin encouraged people to visit the “stunning” resort.

“I love this guy,” quipped Trump while Martin also revealed that a local Fianna Fáil councillor asked him to thank the US President and his family for their work with the local community in Doonbeg.

Last week activists broke into Turnberry in response to Trump’s statements on Gaza and they spray painted the clubhouse, writing ‘Gaza Is Not For Sale’ before damaging the greens on the former Open Championship venue.

Palestine Action described it as a “direct response to the US administration’s stated intent to ethnically cleanse Gaza”.

The Trump Organisation owns 15 golf courses – 11 in the US, two in Scotland, one in Ireland and one in the United Arab Emirates while some of his courses host events on LIV Golf, a Saudi backed breakaway tour.
