Historically, the JPX Forged has appealed to a very specific player. Marketed as a distance-enhancing club like other JPX models, yet designed for golfers who prefer the looks and feel of the Mizuno Pro series. With the 2025 update to the JPX Forged, Mizuno has created a blended set of distance-boosting long and mid-irons paired with feel-enhancing scoring clubs.

As with the Mizuno Pro 241 and 243 irons released in 2024, the chassis of the JPX 925 4-iron through 7-iron is forged from a single billet of 4120 Chromoly, an exceptionally hard alloy. The forging process elongates the alloy’s grain structure to improve feel.

In contrast, the shorter irons (8-GW) are forged from 1025E Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel, a material that delivers superior control, precision, and the legendary buttery feel Mizuno players expect. Together, these materials ensure a flawless transition through the set, offering the perfect balance of speed, precision, and feedback.

Adding to their versatility is Mizuno’s innovative Triple Cut Sole design, meticulously engineered for enhanced turf interaction across all lies and conditions. The leading edge is gently bevelled to ensure a clean entry into the turf, while the hard-cut trailing edge facilitates a smooth exit for uninterrupted ball contact. This design, paired with optimised weighting, gives players remarkable control and confidence, even in the most challenging playing environments.

Aesthetics play a vital role in the JPX 925 Forged series, which debuts with two finish options. The Traditional Satin Chrome provides a timeless, classic look that will appeal to traditionalists, while the Forged Black Limited Edition offers a bold, contemporary option with reduced glare.

With JPX 925, Mizuno have invested in a new forging press, and because Chromoly is so hard, designers could make an elliptical portion of the hitting area as thin as 1.5mm — Mizuno’s thinnest forged face to date. This advancement broadens the sweet spot and enhances super ball speed across the face.

Mizuno call it CORTECH Design with its new Contour Ellipse Face optimises ball speed across the entire surface, ensuring explosive performance and forgiveness even on off-centre strikes.

Combining both the forgiveness of the Hot Metal series with the refined feel of their single-piece forged irons, the design and of the new JPX Forged iron offers great feel and versatility. If you are looking to get fit into the new JPX Forged, remember the lofts of irons are a touch stronger than past generations, with a 5-iron at 24 degrees, a 9-iron at 38 degrees, and a pitching wedge at 43 degrees.

The JPX 925 Forged and JPX 925 Black will be available at authorised retailers and online from Monday, 3rd February 2025 for an RRP of €245 per iron for chrome or €265 per iron for the black limited version.
