The PGA in Ireland, Carr Golf, DS Automobiles and Monami Construction have agreed a deal to bring the Irish Club Professional Tournament back to the five star Dromoland Castle in May 2018.

The Ron Kirby & J.B. Carr designed course will once again host the 36-hole professional only event on Wednesday May 16 and Thursday May 17 which will feature a prize fund of €13,000. The event will be preceded by a Corporate Pro-Am Tournament on Tuesday May 15.
Speaking on behalf of Dromoland Castle, Managing Director Mark Nolan said; “We were very happy with the profile the golf course and estate received from the inaugural tournament last year. A second year gives us an opportunity to once again engage with Professionals from all over Ireland and to promote and develop the golf facility at Dromoland Golf & Country Club.”

The tournament will be sponsored by Carr Golf, Ireland’s largest golf management business providing management, marketing or maintenance services to 20 clubs throughout Ireland, premium motor brand DS Automobiles, and Galway-based Monami Construction.
The Irish Club Professional tournament was launched in 1993. Last year, David Higgins retained his title in style, firing rounds of 72/72 (level par) to win by three shots. The Waterville golfer fully intends to make it three in a row this year, but will face some tough opposition from the likes of Damien McGrane (Carlow GC), Colm Moriarty (Drive Golf Performance) and Simon Thornton (Tulfarris Golf Resort).
PGA in Ireland Secretary, Michael McCumiskey, said; “We are delighted to announce that the Irish Club Professional Tournament will return to Dromoland Castle and acknowledge the support of Carr Golf and sponsors DS Automobiles and Monami Construction. Last year’s event was well supported by the PGA Professionals who enjoyed the challenging golf course and the excellent accommodation at the Dromoland Hotel.”

Louise Murphy, Marketing Director, DS Automobiles Ireland, added: “We are thrilled to announce the partnership of DS Automobiles with the 2018 Irish Club Professional Golf Tournament again this year, hosted by the impressive Dromoland Golf and Country Club. As an emerging premium brand in the motor industry, DS Automobiles is proud to support one of Ireland’s premier golf tournaments, and we wish all the competitors the very best for the tournament.”
The golf course at the five-star Dromoland Castle Hotel and Country Estate was originally designed by the renowned golf architect Mr. Brook L. Wigginton and opened in 1961.
In 2003 the par 72 Dromoland Golf & Country Club championship parkland course was carefully redesigned and updated by world class architect Ron Kirby and Irish golfing legend J.B.Carr. The course plays 6,824 yards for men and 5,242 yards for ladies and sweeps through 450 acres of shady woodland, open rolling pasture, feral lakes and streams.
Details of the Corporate Pro-Am event on Tuesday May 15 are available from Dromoland Golf & Country Club. Teams of three will be invited to play the one-day Pro-Am tournament which will include a morning PGA Coaching Clinic, shot-gun golf at 12pm, prize giving, and a corporate evening event of dinner and entertainment in Dromoland Castle.
Parties interested in sponsoring the event or entering a team in the Pro-Am should contact the Dromoland team on 061 368 444 or email golf@dromoland.ie.
