Kildare’s Lauren Walsh finished in a magnificent outright seventh place as the Italian International Ladies’ Amateur Championship at Is Molas Golf Club came to a close on Saturday.

The Castlewarden star finished the 72-hole strokeplay event with a superb even par 72, capping off an extremely consistent week for the hard-working Walsh.

She finished the tournament on five-over par, just six shots off the lead and should take so many positives from such an encouraging display so early in the season.

Meanwhile Annabel Wilson fired an even par effort of her own to finish in a share of 19th at 12-over par.

The Lurgan teenager bookended her week with 72s and will no doubt kick on from here as she looks to build on an already promising amateur career to date.

And last but not least, Paula Grant signed off on a top-50 finish with a four-over par 76 for a plus-21 tournament total.

The Lisburn golfer, who juggles locum work and elite amateur golf, was never quite at it this week in Italy and no doubt there’s much better things to come from the consistent campaigner.

Pauline Bouchard’s final round 69 pipped Alessia Nobilio to the title by a single stroke. Bouchard was the only player to finish the 72-hole tournament in the red for the week at one-under par.

ILGU High Performance Manager David Kearney travelled with the three Irish High Performance panellists for the duration of the event.
