On a day where scores were generally high across the board, Auburn sophomore Julie McCarthy was one of three golfers to shoot a low round of 69 (-3) during the second round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate on Monday to move her into T10 place.

McCarthy had been in a tie for 46th place heading into the day, some 36 positions behind Irish compatriot Olivia Mehaffey but her strong showing on day two sees her jump four places ahead of Mehaffey who is in T14 position after a second round 75.

McCarthy started strong on the back nine with birdies on three of the first six holes she played, and then it was about staying consistent as she made par on the final 12 holes. The sophomore, who turned in a 76 (+4) on the first day, is currently tied for 10th on the player leaderboard at 1 over par.

Dating back to the Alexa Stirling Intercollegiate in October, McCarthy has now shot par or better in five of her last seven rounds, including two rounds in the 60s.
