Mallow’s James Sugrue 68/73 finished one shot further back while Galway’s Ronan Mullarney 71/71 breezed through at two-under.

Castle’s Alex Gleeson fired a 69 after an opening 75 to return to even par with Kilkenny’s Mark Power 71/75 getting through at plus-two, the same score as Naas’ Robert Brazill 78/68 with Massereene’s Tiarnan McLarnon 75/72 also advancing at three-over par having come through a playoff after finishing in a share of 60th.

Robbie Cannon failed to make it a clean sweep as he missed out on the cut mark by one shot at four-over par.
