 Corballis

In a similar story to last week’s weather, early blue skies proved a false dawn as the wind whipped through the field at the 20th running of this winter’s Race to 59 at Corballis.

With the links showing its teeth once more, the cream rose to the top with Tullamore’s Stuart Grehan taking top honours in the Gross Prize after a rock solid even-par 66 edged out Rick Weldon (67).

While in the Nett competition, it was the pro who ousted the amateur as Enda Maguire’s 67 got the better of Annraoi Collins’ 68 to see the former take home the spoils.

In-all, 32 golfers teed up on Thursday and the pot saw the winners bank €224 each while the runners-up took home €96.
The Race to 59 resumes next Thursday as the search continues for someone to hit the magic number.
