Sheehan takes crown for first Race to 59 series at Corballis

Corballis Links Golf Club finished off the first Winter Series, Race to 59, with a head to head battle between Wayne Sheehan and Manuel Alvarez.

Both players had played in the Race since October with each week awarding points to the top twenty players for the Order of Merit.

Wayne Sheehan from Corballis Links, off a 2 handicap collected the overall prize and the crown following a level par 66 nett on the final day. Wayne’s record over the series saw him pick up two victories and several top 5 finishes to take the title with 159 Order of Merit points.

Gross Winner on the final day was PGA Professional Shane Jenkinson who carded one over, 67, with Mark Justice and Brian Casey (Professional) picking up the runner up spots.

With the success of the winter edition of the event, Corballis Links were delighted to launch their Summer edition with the support of us here at Irish Golfer and Prize Sponsor Wilson Staff and the event tees off next week, Thursday March 22nd.

The weekly events will continue to take place on Thursday’s with a new Order of Merit format will finish with a Grand Final on September 27th, 2018.
