2016 Champion Gertie McMullen (The Island) is the best of the Irish after two days at the Irish Senior Women’s Open Strokeplay taking place at Belvoir Park as she lies in second place on +8, five shots adrift of leader Christina Petit-Martin of France.

The Irish ladies have had a strong showing and Ireland have three other representatives in the Top 10 with current Irish Senior Women’s Close Champion Margaret McCauliffe (Ballybunion) on +12 in tied seventh place, Suzanne Corcoran (Portumna) on +13 in eighth and Sheena McElroy (Grange) on +15 in tenth.

The top 40 take to the course this morning after the cut was made and will have their work cut out to catch Petit-Martin though as she has been in blistering form with best of the day rounds of 74 and 75 in the opening two days so it will take something special to mount a challenge today.
