Leona Maguire & Paula Grant have progressed to the quarter final stages of the Ladies British Amateur at Pyle & Kenfig.
It was always going to be a tough day for the Irish as leading qualifier Paula Grant (Lisburn) was facing off against fellow Irish competitor Olivia Mehaffey (RCD Ladies) in the third round of the matchplay stages of the British Amateur, while Leona Maguire (Slieve Russell) was taking on Sweden’s Beatrice Wallin.
Grant took a very hard fought match against Mehaffey by one hole while Maguire handed out another drubbing in beating Wallin 7&6, having won by the same scoreline yesterday against Paula Neira Garcia of Spain.
Maguire and Grant will now face each other in the quarter final with Maguire no doubt the fresher of the two following two early finishes.
