It’s all looking pretty good so far for the Irish players at the Home of Golf as both the men’s and women’s leaderboards are topped by Irish players.

John Murphy (Maynooth) and Chloe Ryan (UCD) lead their respective tournaments heading into the final round of the R&A Foundation Scholars Tournament in St Andrews.

Murphy carded a 68 followed by a 64 for an eight under total to lead the men’s event by one stroke from England’s Laird Shephard, while Ryan, who is defending the title she won last year, shot 71 and 68 for a seven under total to also lead her event by one stroke from England’s Emily Toy.

Ireland’s other competitors aren’t far behind and are in with a shout of victory with Stuart Grehan (Maynooth) T3 only 3 shots back, Robin Dawson (Maynooth) T5 a further two shots back on three under, Kevin Le Blanc (Maynooth) on two under and Jonathan Yates (UCD) on one under par.

In the women’s event Sinead Sexton (Stirling) is T3 on three under while Molly Dowling (Maynooth) is one shot further back on two under.  Shannon Burke (Maynooth) is 12th on twelve over and Mary Doyle (Maynooth) is 13th on thirteen over.
