Mizuno says optimising driver launch angles and spin rates can make a difference of up to 20 or 30 yards. With the JPX900 driver Mizuno have created their most adjustable driver ever, to let a fitter dial in spin rates and launch angles best suited to your game.

Two 8g weights in the sole can be split between either a central tracks to lower or increase launch angle and spin, or positioned in toe and heel slots to create a draw or fade bias. A sliding “face angle prop” lets you choose how the driver looks at address without affecting loft.
Mizuno obviously produce phenomenal irons and industry leading steel technology innovations and it always seemed strange that they never seem to find the right traction with their drivers.

They have tended to sit a little behind the technology line and tend to not lead with driver R&D technology and try to follow on a little. With the JPX900 they have now produced one of the most adjustable drivers in the market this year featuring three weight slots that allow you position two weights split-up to get the desired setup and a third sole piece which allows manipulation of the face position.

Under the hood the JPX900 is a very solid performer and  it’s very forgiving and definitely packs a bit of a punch. It does have a slightly higher sound to it so if you prefer that sound off a crisp solid hit it delivers that feedback. Pound for pound it still goes as far as most on the market but it does spin more than most others too so it doesn’t deliver that extra X factor that M1 or Epic give with low spin low launch capabilities.

The JPX900 does stack up perfectly alongside others in its category like the TaylorMade M2 and offers a little more adjustability than anything else in the market. Definitely one to be considered and will suit a broad category of golfer.

The JPX 900 is available in 9.5° loft and comes with a stock shaft of Fujikura Speeder Evolution II.
RRP €479
